Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso, Member, Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency and
Deputy Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Aviation, has assured that he has put in this year’s budget projects that will benefit his constituents under the N1billion constituency projects in the budget which is yet to be released.
Below is the details of his position;
SIFTING THE FACTS FROM THE FALLACIES, IDANRE/IFEDORE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY IN THE 2025 APPROPRIATION ACT
I have received several messages, directly and indirectly, via various social media platforms. As a responsible representative of the constituents, it behooves me to react and clarify the issues to set the record straight.
Previously, as member of the House of Representatives, I had N400 million worth of projects to influence in their constituency. However, under the incumbent President, H.E. B.A. Tinubu, the Federal Government removed oil subsidies and floated the FOREX policies, which increased both government revenue and inflation.
To cushion the effects on the local economy, the Executive increased the constituency project sum from N400 million to N1 billion, while a senator’s allocation was raised to N2 billion.
It is public knowledge that the Federal Government has allowed the continuous implementation of the 2024 budget to date, while the 2025 budget has been passed but not yet implemented. Constituency projects are influenced by lawmakers, but funds are released to agencies and MDAs, which execute the projects listed by legislators.
The works carried out on specific projects are still funded under the 2024 Appropriation Act, as we await the release of the N1 billion approval captured in the 2025 budget. I have submitted quality projects that will greatly benefit the Federal Constituency, and the analysis has been considered in the 2025 Appropriation Act.
