ONDO ASSEMBLY EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER INCESSANT KIDNAPPING IN THE STATE,CALLS ON SECURITY AGENCIES TO REDOUBLE EFFORTS.
Worried by the incessant kidnapping and other criminal acts in Ondo State, a call has gone to all security agencies in the State to redouble their efforts and secure safe environment for the people of the State.
The call was made by members of the Ondo State House of Assembly at a plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House,Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji today in Akure.
The Speaker, who described kidnapping as a life threatening ailment, assured that the House would not fold its arms and allow the State to become a haven for criminals.
While deliberating on the activities of kidnapers and other related vices,the House Majority leader, Honourable Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, said Ondo State is known for peace, saying that the present condition of the State needs an urgent solution.
Also speaking on the matter,the lawmaker representing Ose Constituency, Honourable Olatunji Oshati, expressed worry over the rising cases of kidnapping, calling on relevant authorities to find a lasting solution to the menace.
In its resolution, the House called on Chairmen of all Local Governments in the State to employ the services of local vigilante to support the security architecture of the State.
The House urged the government of Ondo State to deploy all necessary resources to the security agencies for effective performance, just as the lawmakers summoned the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Ondo State Governor (Lucky Aiyedatiwa) on security matters, Gbenga Atiba and the comandant of Amotekun Corps,Adetunji Adeleye to brief them on security situation of the State on or before March 25th March,2025.
Also at the plenary,the Chairman,Ad_hoc Committee on Public petition and fraudulent conducts in relations to landed properties in Ondo State, Honourable Gbegudu Ololade submitted the report of the committee to the House.
The Committee recommended that the House should issue a warrant of arrest to compel the attendance of Mr.Ojo Ajisafe of Okedasa street,Ondo city and also urged government to set up a task force to prohibit forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties in Ondo State.
It will be recalled that the House on Tuesday, 11th February,2025 constituted the AD-HOC Committee with a view to finding lasting solution to the menace of land grabbing in the State.
Plenary sitting was later adjourned till 19th March, 2025.
